GREECE AGAIN? BORING!
Here come the former Euro Champian again, the defending champions have perhaps been the biggest disappointment in Austria – Switzerland so far. It’s not that they lost 2-0 to Sweden; it’s the way they played. The “otto” style winning formula. The world media especially Greece critize their home team playing style after losing to Sweden at the opening match but you better believed, Greece will still play defensive football tonight. German mastermind Rehhagel has not much options on the players he is currently have on hands, Greece do not have a player like Fernando Torres, Christiano Ronaldo, Michael Ballack, Rio Ferdinand and bla bla……but on thing good about the team is they play as a team, they are unite by the team spirit and the eager to prove to the world that their previous winning trophy is not fluke.

In 1993 Greece drew 1-1 in Moscow and won 1-0 in Athens to win their qualifying group by finishing two points ahead of… Russia. However, it was Russia who won their next three meetings, all for the European Championship. In ’95 they emerged victorious both in Thessaloniki (3-0) and Moscow (2-1); and they also beat Greece 2-1 in Faro, Portugal in their latest match-up.

Greece – Angelos Haristeas
One of the most recognizable Greek footballers, and not only for scoring three invaluable goals in the 2004 final phase, including that headed winner in the final against Portugal. He has scored more times on international level than any other active Greek player, 18 in 66 caps. You can see how active he is when playing in the opening match and caused a lot of problem to the swede defence in the first 20 minutes. Why? Because he is finding way to prove himself he is a superb player and European Cup is his perfect stage as after becoming hero in 2004 Euro cup; he do not have a wonderful experience in his career. Playing with 4 different in 4 years will tell you the reason why he is upset. Tonight he will prove himself to the world but myself do not think so….:)
Russia – Yuri Zhirkov
Thus guy is Fast, pacy, skillful, he’s playing as a defender with the national but playing as a left midfielder with his club -CSKA Moscow. At 24 he’s already tasted success in the UEFA Cup with CSKA Moscow, scoring the all-important second goal in the 3-1 2004-’05 final victory over Sporting Lisbon. He also won the award for the best European Champions League goal of the 2006-’07 campaign, when he netted in a 3-2 loss at HSV.
MY PREDICTION
SImple enough for this one. My vote will definately to the Russians as do you guys see any team playing defensively win the match SO FAR in this tournament, the answer is no. My advice to the greece is better to attack than defence when play against the russian ; if not we all can see the former champion packing their bags and back to their country with tears.
