Euro 2008 Match Prediction: Switzerland - Portugal

Published by chickentalk at 8:47 pm under Euro 2008 Match Prediction, Sports

PORTUGAL AGAIN?

Portugal have done exactly what was expected of them and picked up two wins out of two and are one of the only top teams who have looked relatively solid in defence. It is top versus bottom and picking a favourite is fairly decision-making, but what we can expect is an open game with a fine atmosphere and hopefully, a lot of goals. Will Portugal treats this game seriously, we don’t know… but at least for sure that this is the game that Scolari will rest some of his key players to seriously start considering their next match in the quarter final. Everybody is saying that the co-host might grab their first win or first goal from Portugal as Portugal is nothing to lose for this one and may as well give the co-host a “Farewell present”…what do you think?

Team Line up

It is definately some changes on both team line up in tonight final match. Portugal will take this chance to rest some of their key players and Swtzerland in the other hand will take this chances for the team fresh blood to gain their experience in this competition. Below is my estimated line up for both team:

PORTUGAL

Probable starting line-up (4-5-1): Ricardo - Bosingwa, Pepe, Carvalho, Ferreira - Quaresma, Moutinho, Petit, Deco, Ronaldo - Nuno Gomes

SWITZERLAND

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Benaglio - Lichtsteiner, Muller, Senderos, Magnin - Behrami, Inler, Fernandes, Barnetta - Yakin - Derdiyok

PLAYER TO WATCH

I will recommend only one player in tonight match between the two. Ricardo Quaresma. Also picked for the last game - in which he only appeared as a late, tap-in scoring substitute - but will be the one to watch in this game for identical reasons. Far more likely to start with some key players to be rested, and he will be eager to showcase his skills as a move away from Porto to one of Europe’s Big club. Another reason is that he is the player that i like the most when playing Championship Manager…ha!

MY PREDICTION

Do not think too much on who will be in the 1st 11? Will portugal play a serious football tonight? Is the recently most discuss news regarding Scolari will be the next Chelsea Manager after Euro 2008 will lead an impact in the team dressing room? Do not make yourself headache. Portugal can still win this Game even with their bench players. Do remember that everybody in the team especially those has never been play in the last 2 games will definately show his best to the world.

SWITZERLAND 0-3 PORTUGAL

For sure portugal will play serious football as the whole world is watching. Nevertheless, it is a perfect time for some portugal players from the bench to show their ability to the world, they will give their very best. Just my point of view, i might be wrong. My advice to you is stick with your 1st choice.
