Govt announces cost-cutting measures

Published by chickentalk at 1:06 am under Voice Out

Government announced cost cutting measures today which will help save the Government RM2bil this year. The measurements are as follow:

  1. For the paid holidays, Cabinet members will not be allowed to claim for more than a week’s holiday.
  2. Freeze on new government posts and the purchase of assets like cars, furniture and computers, limiting the number of workshops, seminars and conferences held at hotels, and postponing all renovation works for government offices.
  3. Maintenance works of government premises be carried out optimally so as to reduce costs and energy use.
  4. Cut down on the number of functions like the opening of offices, prize presentations as well as disallow attire specifically made for an event.
  5. No special attire with special Logo because it’s wasteful.
  6. 10% cut will be imposed on expenses within departments. Much of the cut will involve promotional and campaign activities.
  7. Restructuring of agencies and departments will also be put off, except if this is to reduce workers or which does not involve the creation of new posts.
  8. Official overseas trips will be limited to important international or inter-governmental meetings, with not more than three officers sent, and even then only those directly involved.

All the above is useless if the government is not transparent on all the above mentioned. They should let the public know how they spend every single cent on our country money as these monies are contributed mostly by the nation or the tax payers. The recent fuel price hike, rising cost of electricity, high inflation rate, economy uncertainties, high living standard and etc is not the cause of government high spending behavior but it is caused by CORRUPTION. The government always said that we as a nation do not understand the government, we always complaint about this and that. If the government want the nation to understand them and work together to achieve Wawasan 2020, the government should tell public everything they need to know and listen to what the nation said before making any decision. Government should gather the thought of the nation but not just members in the parliament as it is not fair. Look at our former prime minister, at the age of 80++ but still criticized the current government. Why? Imagine that you are the former prime minister, you have everything you want in life, the nation still respect you, people still love you, money is not a problem to you, you have a lovely and healthier families…. why would you wasted all your energy and time in criticizing the current prime minister? Why don’t just enjoy life? What current prime minister do and don’t is none of my business, why would I care? But our former prime minister love us so much, not only he love us but he also love the country and the parties member, he has to voice up as he don’t want to see the country continue ruining under a wrong person hand. Current government has a lot to do ……let just wait and see.
